Early Childhood Development

Children's Center, an affiliate corporation of Children's Square U.S.A., provides quality education and childcare for children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 12 years. A stimulating and child friendly environment has been created to nurture infants through individual milestones, to help preschool-age children prepare for kindergarten and to provide a relaxing and supportive environment for school-age children who are gaining independence but still require guidance. Drop-in childcare services are offered pending availability.

Our infant program, serving children from six weeks through twenty-four months of age, is developed around the needs of this young population. Care givers are assigned to no more than four children as a means to not only ensure daily living needs are met but to also intensify this very special bond between caregiver and child. The teachers of our preschool-age children are busy planning daily activities that support the developmental needs of children within this age range. Classrooms are divided into interest areas that allow children the opportunity to explore a wide range of learning activities. A before and after school program and a fulltime summer program is offered for school-age children. Transportation to and from school is available to selected elementary schools. The school-age children are able to participate in activities and fieldtrips geared towards their age.

The Children's Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, NAEYC and the Council On Accreditation, COA.

A child's education is most successful when a partnership is built with the parents and teacher. Through daily communication and parent/teacher conferences, parents and teachers are able to work together in meeting a child's development goals.

The Children's Center strives for excellence and encourages suggestions. We believe that moving towards a common goal will improve the program and the child's experience. Parent's and family members are welcome to join "Parent's And Friend's of Children's Center" (similar to a Parent/Teacher Association or PTA).

Children who meet the age requirements and whose educational and developmental needs can be met through our programs are eligible for enrollment.

The Children's Center is located on the campus of Children's Square U.S.A., at North 6th Street and Avenue E in Council Bluffs. You may contact Children's Center at (712) 325-1662. Hours of operation are: 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Fees vary depending on age and schedule. Assistance and guidance is available in seeking financial support for childcare if needed.
